Here’s a piece of historical work we did with Bill Hollins, he who taught design management for years at Brunel University and Westminster University. He taught Service Design to many people who went on to be pioneers and activists in this domain. He taught people like Oliver King from Engine, David Townson, who went on to create two groundbreaking MA’s at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, from where a whole ton of service designers have come from, including Lauren Currie who went on to create Snook.

We gave it a kick around with Lauren Tan, Deborah Szbecko and Phillip Joe.

It’s a chart to explore and break down stages in service design management – originally intended for the British Standards Committee, (so it has official speak) but they did not want to be able to give it for free, so here it is for you with our best wishes. Please build on it, edit it, and make it yours, but above all, share it! Let us know if it helps at all, and what’s missing.
